If you are coming to live in Spain it is no longer
necessary to apply for an N.I.E number. You will only
need to apply for an N.I.E number if you buy
property and do not intend to ever live in Spain
permanently.
If you are going to be living in Spain permanently
you will need to obtain your Certificate of Residencia (Residency
Certificate), a piece of paper
similar to N.I.E number, which also states your name and
address. The residency certificate has now replaced
the standard residency permit.
Sol Commercials will organise pre assigned numbers
and will accompany you to the police station to
obtain your residency certificate, which is issued
on the same day.
If you are from a non EU country and
you wish to live full time in Spain, you will need
to apply for a 3 months residency visa from the
nearest Spanish Embassy in your home country or the
country you reside in.
